Don Creedon is an award-winning playwright, director, and actor originally from Dublin, Ireland.
On November 25, 2014, Don will present his one act comedy Divine Intervention at the Artist's Without Walls Showcase in The Cell. Cast will include Maeve Price and also Don himself, in the role of Father Divine.
Don directed a staged reading of W.B. Yeat's play The Land of Heart's Desire at the National Arts Club, Gramercy Park, NY on October 22, 2014. Produced by the New York Yeats Society, the cast included Ed Malone, Nicola Murphy, Katherine O'Sullivan, Zoe Wilson, David O'Hara and Turlough McConnell.
Don's latest work-in-progress, a full-length play entitled Dry Rot, received a staged reading at the Riverdale YM-YWHA (Bronx New Works for Stage) on October 6, 2014. Set in Dublin during the recent economic meltdown, Dry Rot depicts the fall-out and pandemonium that ensues when a father suddenly puts the family home on the red hot property market. The reading featured Michael Mellamphy, Laoisa Sexton, Jo Kinsella, Joan Lunoe, Katherine O'Sullivan, and Joseph Kolinski.
A staged reading of Don's recently completed full-length play, The Lobby, was presented at New Jersey Repertory Theater in Long Branch, NJ on June 30, 2014. The Lobby is an Irish immigrant story, a modern American comedy, and an old-school farce all wrapped up in one terrific new play. A group of Irish ne’r-do-wells do whatever it takes to get ahead in New York. The result is one big, elaborate and extremely hilarious hoax. Produced by Ellen Cohn and directed by Adam Fitzgerald, The Lobby featured a cast including Tom O’Keefe, John Keating, Ciaran Byrne, Michael Mellamphy, Rachel Pickup, Matt Golden, Pepper Binkley, Dee Nelson, Orlagh Cassidy, and Honor Finnegan, as special musical guest.
Don's short play The Ledge was produced by Aching Dogs Theater Company at The Hudson Guild Theater in November 2013. Directed by Don Creedon, the cast featured Walter Michael DeForest, John Duddy, Shelley Ebner and Julia Kelly.
In October 2010, Don received the 1st Irish 2010 Theatre Festival Audience Award for Best Play for Guy Walks into a Bar.
Also in 2010, Don was nominated for Best Director 1st Irish 2010 Theatre Festival for the US premier of Dermot Bolger's one-woman drama The Holy Ground, featuring Katherine O'Sullivan.
